Who are we?
Freya Burgos-Kjær
20, France
Her life journey is a bit chaotic but has also just started!
She was born in France in a musical family, and moved to Barcelona, Spain as a 10 year old. During those years she discovered the world of street performance, and had the privilege of traveling around Europe with a "backstage access" in her back pocket.
In 2016 she moved to Denmark on her own, moved to Aarhus 2 years later and started at an alternative school focused on arts and culture. There, she got involved with the planning of a music festival as well as other cultural events, and realized that she could see a future doing this. It was thanks to a little push from her close ones that decided to take a leap and organize her dream project; a street performance festival. Only recently she found the door to the cultural life of Aarhus, and found a team of people just as passionate as her about street performance, and creating culture for the city of Aarhus. What was just a dream for the future is now part of her day-to-day life!
She also has a big interest in languages, sewing, knitting and other manual crafts, as well as 10 years of experience playing the violin.

Marika Rocca
33, Italy
She has a bachelor degree in fine arts. During her studies she started to grow a particular interest in the arts as therapy which she cultivated also in the art of improvisation. She began to get acquainted with it during her training to become a medical clown. She started to work as a volunteer wearing the red nose in hospitals, nursing homes, mental health centers and trips around the world called "smile missions". Her interest for the red nose led her to participate in different workshops and courses about clown and mime, making her realise that the body communication is really important and helpful both for ourselves and in relationships with others. In 2013, she left Italy and she lived in different countries. Her trips gave her many different experiences and brought to her life the passion for yoga. She became an instructor after completing her trainings in Argentina and India. At the moment she is trying to combine her passion for the clown and yoga, trying to bring a more playful way of practicing such an ancient discipline.

Alessia Franca Belpasso
28, Argentina
She has been diving into theatre and arts since highschool, which took her to the Universidad Nacional de Artes (U.N.A., Bs. As) from 2011 to 2015. Later that year, she started traveling, fueled by curiosity. Then, somehow, life became a play.
During her first trip, she stepped into the understanding of metaphysics and psychology through Bioneuroemoción (which is a new perspective of communication and self-development). Also, in that period, playing percussion and singing became one of her inner passions.
She is now based in Aarhus since late 2017. In 2018 she took a short residency at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium with the theatre company Ikarus, where she developed her street performance skills with different people around the world.
Living in Aarhus helped her to become an entrepreneur in different levels and across disciplines, always related to the social and cultural field.

What do we do?
Our dreams, and visions!
The association & The Festival
Our vision and mission
SPAA stands for Street Performing Arts Association and for wanting to bring life to the streets of Aarhus through street performance!
SPAA is an association founded in 2019 from a dream of creating a street performance festival in Aarhus. Today the association counts for board members, and many more helpful engaged individuals who have reached out and offered their assistance and energy in making SPAA come to life.
The goal of SPAA Festival is to make culture free and accessible to everyone, let people discover something unexpected, and break boundaries between artists, the audience and their respective cultures, through interaction!
SPAA is working to connect the communities of Aarhus that already exist within the fields of street performance, and bring new people to enjoy and participate in the world of circus, dance and theatre through workshops and events.
The main event is the annual Street Performing Arts Festival (SPAA Festival), and throughout the year SPAA hosts events and workshops in Aarhus.
The SPAA "Side Street Show" & Workshops
Our vision and mission
We want to reach our goal together through different workshops: let's flood the street with art, and mix up our communities!
SPAA aims to create a platform for both those with experience in some performance discipline, and those who are just curious to go into a new adventure.
The strongest feeling is the desire to participate.
The "Side Street Show" serves as a participatory pathway into our big festival in June 2021. By partaking in the workshops, you will have the change to discover your artistic aptitudes through movement, songs, stage-presence, self-expression, team building, co-creation and choreographies. By the festival's date, you will be ready to show everything you learned, alongside all the other performers who are part of the line-up
